How much does NordVPN cost per month?
NordVPN costs $3.49 to $21.49 a month (about ₹331 to ₹2,035), depending on the plan and how long you pay for. The 2-year Basic plan has the lowest monthly price. Paying month by month costs far more ($14.69 for Basic), and every long plan renews at a higher yearly price after the first term.
The "Save 69%" label on Basic compares the first-term price with the renewal price. NordVPN's offer terms say so. Basic renews at $139.08 a year, which works out to $11.59 a month (about ₹1,098). That is the price the $3.49 is measured against.
The low price covers only your first term. After that, the plan renews automatically for a year at a time. NordVPN says it charges up to 14 days before the renewal date, and emails you before it charges any plan longer than a month.
You can switch off auto-renewal at any time in your Nord Account (Billing, then Cancel next to Auto-renewal). You keep NordVPN until the paid term ends.
What NordVPN really costs over 2 and 4 years
Over about 4 years, the 2-year Basic plan averages $7.30 a month (about ₹692), roughly double the $3.49 headline, because each renewal year costs $139.08. It is still the lowest-cost way to keep NordVPN. Paying month by month costs about twice as much over the same period.
How we worked it out: we took each plan's first payment from the pricing page and added the renewal price for each extra year. The 1-year and 2-year plans both finish a paid term at month 27 and again at month 51, so we compare those two points. Monthly plans are 27 or 51 payments.

The 2-year term is the better buy on every plan. The 1-year Basic plan looks cheaper upfront ($73.35), but by month 27 it has cost $118.20 more than the 2-year plan.
And Complete costs only $10.80 more than Basic for the first 27 months, but $80.40 a year more once it renews.
Basic, Complete or Complete Max: which NordVPN plan should you choose?
Choose Basic if you only want a VPN. Choose Complete if you will also use a password manager, cloud storage and an antivirus, since it costs just $10.80 more for the first 27 months. Choose Complete Max only if you need a dedicated IP address, a fixed address that only you use.
A VPN (virtual private network) encrypts your internet traffic and sends it through a server in another place. Websites see the server's address instead of yours, and whoever runs a public Wi-Fi network cannot read what you send. All three NordVPN subscription plans include the same VPN.

Complete Max is Complete plus a dedicated IP address. NordVPN says a fixed IP helps you reach banking sites and other websites without constant checks to prove you are human. On Basic and Complete, the dedicated IP is a paid add-on. NordVPN's renewal price list puts that add-on at $81.48 a year.

Is NordVPN free? How to use NordVPN without paying
No. NordVPN has no free plan, and no free trial for users in India. Its 7-day trial covers 15 other countries, and its 3-day Google Play trial excludes India. The way to try it is the 30-day money-back guarantee: pay, use NordVPN for up to 30 days and ask for a full refund.
NordVPN's free trial help article lists the 7-day trial in France, the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Italy and Poland. It says the Google Play trial is not available in Bangladesh, India, South Korea or Sri Lanka.
That refund is the only honest way to use NordVPN free in India. It applies only to your first purchase, not to a renewal, and NordVPN's money-back guarantee page says it does not allow repeat trials.
NordVPN also gives free emergency access to people facing extreme online censorship, and free accounts to its partners. Stay away from websites offering free "cracked" NordVPN accounts. NordVPN warns they may carry malware that lets hackers steal your data.

How do you get a NordVPN refund?
Ask NordVPN's live chat for a refund within 30 days of your first purchase. Support sends you a link, you confirm it is you, and you click "Refund" next to the payment. NordVPN says the money can take up to 10 business days to reach your account, depending on your bank.

Where you paid matters. According to NordVPN's refund policy, Apple handles App Store refunds and Amazon handles Amazon Appstore ones. For Google Play, NordVPN's support can refund you. Google Play can too, but only within 48 hours of payment.
How do you pay for NordVPN in India?
On NordVPN's website you pay in US dollars. NordVPN lists cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and others), PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay and cryptocurrency, and says the choices at checkout depend on your country. UPI is not on its list.
If you would rather pay by UPI, look at subscribing inside the Android app. Google Play handles that payment, and Google Play's help page says it supports UPI in India, including UPI Autopay for subscriptions. App prices may differ from the website, so compare them first.
Paying by card on the website? Switch on online international transactions for your card in your bank's app. Your bank may add a foreign-currency fee, and NordVPN may add GST, so your statement can show more than our rupee estimates.
Renewals are charged in the currency of your first payment, says NordVPN's renewal price list. If you paid on NordVPN's website, that means dollars, so the rupee amount of each renewal moves with the exchange rate.
Is there a NordVPN coupon or discount?
The main discount is already in the price. The 1-year and 2-year plans are NordVPN's deals, and labels like "Save 78%" compare the first-term price with the renewal price. NordVPN's checkout does accept promo codes, and it runs an extra discount for students and some professions.

What do India's VPN rules mean for NordVPN users?
CERT-In, India's government cyber security agency, issued directions on 28 April 2022. They require VPN service providers to record and keep customer details for 5 years or longer. The list includes validated names, addresses, contact numbers, the IP addresses given to users and the purpose of use. The directions apply to providers.

NordVPN said in June 2022 that it would shut down its servers in India because of the order. Its server list now shows India (Mumbai) as a virtual location. NordVPN says this gives you an Indian IP address from a physical server in Singapore.
NordVPN says it keeps no records (logs) of your online activity or connections. Its Google Play listing says independent auditors have approved this no-log policy.

- The countries you need. NordVPN lists servers in 150 countries. India is a virtual location (an Indian IP from a server in Singapore), so check the server list for any country you need.
- The extras you will use. Pay for Complete only if you want its antivirus, password manager and 1 TB storage, and for Complete Max only if you need a dedicated IP.
- Devices. Every plan covers 10 devices at once, enough for most families.
- Your card. Online international payments switched on, and your bank's foreign-currency fee.
- GST. NordVPN says GST may apply, and the exact amount appears at checkout.
- Where you buy. Website, Google Play and App Store purchases have different refund routes.
- The refund date. Note the date 30 days after you pay. For a purchase on 21 October, NordVPN's page shows 20 November as the last day to ask for a refund.
