Best Website Builder in India (2026): Free and Paid Options Compared
On this page

The best website builder for most people in India is Wix. Its free plan publishes a site for ₹0, with a Wix ad and a wixsite.com address. Wix's Light plan removes the ad for around ₹250 a month, billed yearly. It renews at that price and includes a free domain for one year.

To sell online, you need Wix's Core plan, at around ₹500 a month at its regular price. Wix lists Razorpay, PayU India and Paytm among its payment options for India, so customers can pay by UPI.

A website builder lets you design pages by dragging blocks around, with no coding. Hosting (the server space that keeps your site online) is included in the price.

How much does a website cost in India in year 1 and year 2?

For a simple five-page site on your own .in domain, year 1 costs between ₹899 and ₹7,560 before GST, depending on the builder. Google Sites plus a domain costs least. Among paid builders, WordPress.com Personal costs least in year 1, while Hostinger costs least over four years if you prepay.

Builder and planYear 1Year 24 years in total
Google Sites + .in domain₹899₹899₹3,596
Hostinger Premium (48 months)₹6,672₹899₹9,369
WordPress.com Personal₹1,920₹3,299₹11,817
Wix Light₹3,000₹3,899₹14,697
Zoho Sites Basic + .in domain₹6,659₹6,659₹26,636
Squarespace Basic₹7,560₹8,459₹32,937

How we worked it out: we took each plan's yearly price from its pricing page on 21 October 2026. Zoho needs Basic, as Lite allows one page. Where a plan includes a free domain for year 1, we added the domain's cost from year 2 onward.

For every domain, the table assumes ₹899 a year, Hostinger's regular .in price, as a reference. Each builder sets its own renewal price. Hostinger's figure assumes you prepay all 48 months, after which Premium renews at ₹449 a month.

Is a free website builder good enough?

A free plan is fine for a school project, a club or a trial run, but most businesses outgrow it. Free Wix and WordPress.com sites show the builder's ads and use its web address, such as yourname.wixsite.com. Google Sites is the exception: it is free and still lets you connect your own domain.

Can you accept UPI payments on a website builder in India?

Yes, on Wix, Hostinger, Shopify and WordPress.com, through Indian payment gateways such as Razorpay and PayU. A payment gateway collects the money and sends it to your bank. You need your own account with the gateway. Squarespace's help pages don't mention a UPI gateway.

  • Wix lists Razorpay, PayU India, Cashfree, Paytm and others for India, from Core. Its documents say Razorpay and PayU both accept UPI, cards, net banking and wallets.
  • Hostinger says stores located in India can use Razorpay for cards, net banking, UPI and bank transfers.
  • Shopify lists Razorpay, PayU India, Cashfree and PhonePe, each with UPI. Basic adds a 2% fee on them, because Shopify Payments is not offered in India.
  • WordPress.com has PayPal and Stripe buttons from Premium, and WooCommerce stores on Business or Commerce can add Razorpay's WooCommerce plugin.

Which is the best AI website builder?

Hostinger's AI Builder lists the most AI features. Besides its visual editor, it has an Agentic mode that builds websites and simple web apps from a written description. Wix builds a first version from one prompt. Every builder here except Google Sites lists AI tools.

AI credits limit how much you can generate: 150 a month on Wix Light and 1,000 a month on Zoho Sites Lite. Hostinger lists 250 credits on Premium without saying how often they refresh.

To try an AI website builder free, Hostinger's 14-day trial includes site creation from a description, and Zoho's 15-day trial includes 3,000 one-time AI credits. For the words on your pages, our best AI chatbots guide compares free tools that can draft them.

Our guide to AI chatbots for business covers tools that answer customer questions on your site.

Best overall: Wix

Free plan, or Light at around ₹250 a month billed yearly. Online store from Core at around ₹500 a month.

The free plan gives you a siteprefix.wixsite.com address, 500 MB of storage and a Wix banner ad on your pages.

Light removes the ad, connects your own domain, includes a free domain for one year and gives 2 GB of storage, but it cannot take payments. Core adds online payments, up to 50,000 products, scheduling for services and 50 GB of storage.

On 21 October, Wix showed Core at ₹250 a month under a 50% offer. Wix's page said the offer ends on Thursday, 22 October 2026, and covers only the first yearly term. Core then renews at ₹500. Light had no discount, so it renews at ₹250.

Wix's AI builder drafts a site from one prompt, and there are 2,000+ templates. New paid plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee. See Wix's plans.

  • Pick it if you want to start free and upgrade later, or run a small store that takes UPI through Razorpay or PayU.
  • Skip it if you want the lowest cost over four years. Hostinger's 48-month plan works out lower.

Best budget AI builder: Hostinger Website Builder

Around ₹139 a month for 48 months (₹6,672 paid upfront), renewing at ₹449 a month. No free plan.

Hostinger's website builder is now part of its AI Builder. Premium has the lowest monthly price here for a multi-page site, but only if you pay all 48 months at once, and Hostinger's builder page doesn't show a shorter term.

Premium covers up to three websites, a free domain for one year, two email inboxes per site free for a year and 400+ templates. Hostinger offers a 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Its Agentic mode builds a site or web app from a description, and Manual mode lets you move blocks by hand. Our Hostinger plans in India guide compares its hosting plans too.

Selling costs extra. Hostinger sells ecommerce as an add-on to the Unlimited or Cloud Startup plan (around ₹199 or ₹599 a month on 48 months). The add-on costs ₹89 for 3 months, then ₹699 a month. It takes no sales commission, and Indian stores can accept UPI through Razorpay. See Hostinger's builder plans.

  • Pick it if you will keep the site for four years and can pay about ₹6,672 plus GST upfront.
  • Skip it if you want to pay yearly, or need a store on a tight budget. The ecommerce add-on renews at ₹699 a month on top of the plan.

Best free website builder: Google Sites

Google Sites comes with a Google account, and Google doesn't show a price for it. Sign in at sites.google.com, pick a template, edit it and click Publish. Your site gets a sites.google.com address.

It is the only free builder here that lets you use your own domain. Google's custom domain guide says you can connect a domain bought from a registrar (a company that sells domains), up to five per site, if the site is public.

The trade-off is features. Google's Sites pages don't list an online store, payment tools or an AI site builder.

  • Pick it if you need a simple site at zero cost, or a free site on your own domain.
  • Skip it if you want to sell products or take payments.

Best for blogs: WordPress.com

Free plan with ads, or Personal at around ₹160 a month in year 1 (₹1,920 billed yearly), then ₹2,400 a year.

WordPress.com is the hosted version of WordPress, a CMS (content management system, the software behind many blogs). The free plan gives you a yoursite.wordpress.com address and 1 GB of storage, but shows WordPress.com ads to visitors.

Personal removes the ads and adds a free domain for one year and 6 GB of storage. Every paid plan can install plugins (add-ons that add features), and a guided AI builder sets up your site through a chat.

To sell, Premium (₹280 a month in year 1) adds PayPal and Stripe buttons. Business (₹640 a month in year 1) runs WooCommerce, the store plugin, with 0% transaction fees, and Commerce (₹1,152) adds premium store extensions. Refunds are allowed within 14 days on yearly plans and 7 days on monthly ones.

  • Pick it if you mainly want to write: a blog, a newsletter or a news site.
  • Skip it if you want a store on a small budget. Business costs ₹7,680 in year 1.

Best for online stores: Shopify

No free plan. Basic at around ₹1,800 a month billed yearly. On monthly billing, ₹20 a month for the first 3 months, then ₹1,994 a month.

Shopify's pricing table shows the full online store, unlimited products and abandoned checkout recovery (reminders to shoppers who leave before paying) on every plan. You get a free myshopify.com address, and your own domain is bought or connected separately.

Indian stores on Basic pay one extra fee. Shopify Payments, Shopify's own checkout service, is not available in India, according to its help centre. So Indian stores use a third-party gateway, and Basic adds a 2% fee on those sales, on top of the gateway's charges.

Shopify lists Razorpay, PayU India, Cashfree and PhonePe, each with UPI. Its AI can build a store from a prompt, and a 3-day free trial is offered. See Shopify's India pricing.

  • Pick it if selling is the main job of your site and you expect regular orders.
  • Skip it if you need only a few pages. Shopify Basic costs about seven times as much as Wix Light.

Best for a one-page site: Zoho Sites

No free plan (15-day trial). Lite at around ₹60 a month billed yearly, for one page. No online store.

Lite (₹120 on monthly billing) gives you 100 MB of storage and 500 MB of bandwidth a month, the data your visitors can load. Zoho doesn't list a separate renewal price.

Basic, at around ₹480 a month billed yearly, allows five pages, and Plus, at ₹900, allows 25. Every paid plan connects your own domain, but the pricing page lists no free domain, and GST is extra. Its AI website builder runs on monthly AI credits.

Zoho Sites plans don't list store features. See Zoho Sites' plans.

  • Pick it if you need a one-page site for a shop, clinic or service on your own domain, for about ₹720 a year plus the domain.
  • Skip it if you need five or more pages on a small budget, since Basic costs more than Wix Light.

Squarespace: rupee prices, but check payments first

No free plan (14-day trial). Basic at around ₹630 a month billed yearly (₹810 monthly). Free domain for one year on yearly plans.

Squarespace shows rupee prices in India, and every plan can sell products and services. Basic charges a 2% transaction fee on store sales, which drops to 0% on Core at ₹720 a month. Squarespace doesn't publish a separate renewal price.

The catch for Indian sellers is payments. Squarespace's help centre does not list India for Squarespace Payments, says Indian rupees are unavailable with PayPal, and does not mention UPI or Razorpay. See Squarespace's plans.

  • Skip it if you want customers in India to pay by UPI.
  • Worth knowing: for a site that does not sell, Wix Light also includes a free domain for one year, at less than half the price.

What to check before you buy

  • Free plan limits. Expect builder ads, the builder's web address and 500 MB to 1 GB of storage.
  • The term behind the price. Hostinger's ₹139 needs 48 months upfront. Wix, WordPress.com, Zoho and Squarespace quote yearly billing.
  • The renewal price. WordPress.com Personal rises from ₹1,920 to ₹2,400 a year, Hostinger Premium from ₹139 to ₹449 a month.
  • Free domain rules. It lasts one year. Wix's voucher works only for a new domain bought from Wix, and Hostinger says not every domain ending (such as .in or .com) qualifies.
  • Store fees. Check which plan takes payments, and extra fees such as 2% on Shopify Basic.
  • UPI. Look for Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree in the builder's help centre.
  • Refund window. Hostinger allows 30 days, and Wix and WordPress.com yearly plans 14 days.

Which website builder should you choose?

For most people, start with Wix. Build on the free plan, then move to Light at around ₹250 a month when you want your own domain, or to Core when you want to sell with UPI.

On a zero budget, use Google Sites with a ₹899 .in domain. If you can prepay four years, Hostinger at ₹6,672 is the lowest paid cost over that time for a multi-page site. Bloggers should pick WordPress.com, and growing online stores Shopify.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best website builder in India?

Wix suits most people. Its free plan lets you build and publish a site with a Wix ad and a wixsite.com address. Light costs around ₹250 a month billed yearly, removes the ad and includes a free domain for one year. To sell with UPI through Razorpay or PayU, you need Core, at around ₹500 a month.

Is there a free website builder with a free domain?

Not quite. No free plan we compared includes a free domain. Wix, WordPress.com, Hostinger and Squarespace give one free for the first year with a paid yearly or longer plan. Google Sites is free and lets you connect your own domain, which costs about ₹899 a year for a .in at Hostinger's regular price.

You can try one free. Hostinger's 14-day trial includes building a site from a description, and Zoho Sites' 15-day trial includes 3,000 one-time AI credits. Wix also drafts a site from one prompt. To publish on your own domain, you then need a paid plan, from around ₹60 a month on Zoho or ₹139 a month on Hostinger's 48-month term.
