How we worked it out: we took each maker's published end date for security updates and counted the years left from 24 October 2026. Then we divided the Amazon.in price by those years. The dates come from Samsung India's spec pages, Xiaomi's security centre and Lenovo's Android upgrade page.
Security updates close gaps that malware could use. A tablet keeps working after they stop, but it becomes less safe for banking and UPI apps. OnePlus's UK policy page promises at least three years of security updates for its tablets, but OnePlus India doesn't list an end date for these two.

What to check before you buy
- Processor. For games and heavy multitasking, pick the Dimensity 8300, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 or Dimensity 7300-Ultra. A Dimensity 6300 or Helio G100 is fine for notes and video.
- RAM. 8GB keeps a lecture video and your notes open side by side. With 6GB, stick to one or two apps at a time.
- Storage. 128GB is a sensible minimum. If you download lectures and films, choose 256GB or check for a microSD slot.
- Screen. 11 inches is easier to carry. Pick 12 inches or more for PDFs and films. A 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate feels smoother than 90Hz.
- Battery. Makers rate 7,000mAh tablets at 12 to 15 hours of video. Choose 10,000mAh or more for travel and power cuts.
- Price with extras. Add the pen and keyboard to the tablet price before you compare.
- Update end date. Check it on the maker's site. A tablet past that date is less safe for banking apps.
- SIM slot. Pay for 4G or 5G only if you will use mobile data away from Wi-Fi.
- Seller. Some SIM versions come from third-party sellers, so check who covers the warranty.
