The best tablet under ₹20,000 in India is the OnePlus Pad Lite at ₹19,999, rated 4.4 stars from 1,061 buyers. It has 6GB of RAM where almost everything else at this price has 4GB, and that one number decides how soon it starts to feel slow.
This category also has a price floor worth knowing about. Below roughly ₹13,000 you mostly find brands nobody has heard of, and those are worth avoiding.

The ₹13,000 floor in this category
Established brands sell almost no real tablets on Amazon.in below about ₹13,000. We filtered a search to Lenovo, Samsung, Redmi, realme and HONOR between ₹5,000 and ₹13,000. Almost everything that came back was an accessory: keyboard covers, folio cases, S Pens, memory cards.
One actual tablet appeared in that band. The Lenovo Tab M7 at ₹10,999, with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a rating of 3.5 from 81 buyers.
Search without the brand filter and the gap fills with names you have never heard of. Those listings usually have a few dozen reviews, and the brands behind them have no service centres in India and no software updates.
The useful range starts higher than most shoppers expect. Three bands matter:
- ₹13,000 to ₹15,000. Old stock. The Lenovo M8 is a 2020 model still on sale. The Tab M10 2nd Gen has 2GB of RAM at ₹14,599.
- ₹16,000 to ₹17,000. The first sensible buys. 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
- ₹19,000 to ₹20,000. Where this category gets good. Sharper screens, 128GB storage, and in one case 6GB of RAM.
If your ceiling is ₹20,000, spend close to it. The extra ₹5,400 between the Tab M10 and the OnePlus Pad Lite triples the RAM, quadruples the storage and swaps the 10.1-inch HD panel for an 11-inch screen.
Best tablet under ₹20,000 overall: OnePlus Pad Lite

OnePlus Pad Lite
6GB RAM where rivals have 4GB, and the highest rating here at 4.4.
₹19,999Amazon.in
Check price →₹19,999, rated 4.4 from 1,061 buyers, the highest score on this page.
The 6GB of RAM is the reason to pick it. Every other tablet here ships with 4GB or less, and RAM is what decides whether a tablet still feels fine in year three or starts closing your apps in the background.
You also get an 11-inch screen, 128GB of storage, quad speakers and a 9,340mAh battery, which is the largest here. For watching, reading and video calls it does everything asked of it.
OnePlus says this model has no AI features. At this price you lose nothing worth having.
- Buy it if you want the tablet most likely to still feel quick in three years.
- Skip it if you need a SIM slot for calls. Take the Galaxy Tab A9.
Best value: Lenovo Tab Smartchoice

Lenovo Tab Smartchoice
4GB RAM, 64GB storage and a metal body for ₹3,000 less.
~₹16,999Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹16,999, rated 4.2 from 648 buyers.
This is the first price here where the specification stops being a compromise. 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 10.1-inch screen and a metal body rather than plastic.
It saves you ₹3,000 against the OnePlus. What you give up is 2GB of RAM and half the storage, on a slightly smaller screen.
- Buy it if ₹17,000 is the real ceiling and you want the most sensible tablet at that figure.
- Worth knowing: the listing advertises storage expandable to 1TB. Read the microSD section below before that influences your decision.
Best for calling: Samsung Galaxy Tab A9

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9
The only one here with a SIM slot for 4G and calling.
~₹19,000Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹19,000, rated 4.2 from 287 buyers.
The only tablet here that takes a SIM. If you want something that works away from Wi-Fi, or that an older relative can make calls on, this is the one on the list that does it.
At 8.7 inches it is also the smallest, which makes it the easiest to hold in one hand for long periods. Samsung's software support runs longer than most rivals at this price.
- Buy it if you need mobile data or SIM calling in a tablet.
- Skip it if you mostly watch video at home. The 11-inch options give you far more screen for the same money.
- Worth knowing: 287 ratings is the smallest number of reviews here, so that score rests on less evidence.
Best screen: Redmi Pad 2

Redmi Pad 2
An 11in 2.5K panel, the sharpest screen at this price.
~₹19,754Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹19,754, rated 4.2 from 600 buyers.
An 11-inch 2.5K panel is sharper than anything else at this price, and on a screen you hold half a metre from your face that difference is visible. Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos make it the better choice for films.
It has 4GB of RAM against the OnePlus Pad Lite's 6GB, for roughly the same money.
- Buy it if the tablet is mainly for watching things and you want the sharpest picture.
- Skip it if you expect to keep it for years. The OnePlus has more spare memory for the same price.
Most affordable worth owning: Lenovo M8 HD

Lenovo M8 HD
The lowest price here still backed by service centres in India.
~₹13,299Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹13,299, rated 4.0 from 1,146 buyers.
This is a 2020 model, and the listing says so. At ₹13,299 it is the lowest price here that still comes from a brand with service centres across India.
3GB of RAM and an 8-inch HD screen will handle YouTube, reading and video calls. Ask it to run several apps at once and it will struggle.
- Buy it if ₹13,000 is a hard limit and the tablet is for light use or a child.
- Skip it if you can reach ₹17,000. The Lenovo Tab Smartchoice is a far more modern device.
Avoid the Lenovo Tab M10 HD at ₹14,599
It has the largest review count of the budget options at 2,488, and the lowest rating of anything we shortlisted at 3.8.
The reason is in the specification. 2GB of RAM at ₹14,599, which is less memory than the ₹13,299 Lenovo M8 sitting below it. Android on 2GB in 2026 means apps reloading every time you switch between them.
It appears here so you can recognise it in search results. A larger screen is a poor trade for memory this tight.
How much RAM a tablet actually needs
RAM decides how many apps can run at once. When it runs out, Android closes things in the background and reloads them when you return, which is the stutter people describe as a tablet getting slow with age.
- 2GB. Avoid. One app at a time, and web pages reload when you switch tabs.
- 3GB. Fine for video and reading. Workable for a child's tablet.
- 4GB. The sensible minimum. Comfortable for most people today.
- 6GB. Gives you room as apps grow heavier. Only the OnePlus Pad Lite offers it here.
Processors matter less than the listings suggest at this price. You would not buy any of these for gaming, and for video and browsing the limit is memory rather than the chip.
What expandable up to 1TB really means
Nearly every listing here advertises storage expandable with a microSD card. The figures are real, and the benefit is narrower than it looks.
On modern Android, you cannot install apps on a microSD card. Apps live on the built-in storage only. A memory card holds photos, downloaded films, music and documents.
So 32GB of built-in storage plus a 512GB card still leaves you with 32GB for apps, minus the 10GB or so Android takes for itself. Install a few large games and you are out of room, card or no card.
That is the argument for the 128GB models. The Redmi Pad, Redmi Pad 2 and OnePlus Pad Lite all have it, and that storage is usable for everything.
Which tablet to buy
For most people it is the OnePlus Pad Lite at ₹19,999. The highest rating here, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and the biggest battery.
If ₹17,000 is the real limit, the Lenovo Tab Smartchoice is the most sensible tablet at that figure.
If you need a SIM slot, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is the only option on this list.
The one rule that matters in this category: with a ₹20,000 ceiling, spend close to it. The difference between ₹14,000 and ₹20,000 here is larger than the price gap suggests.
