What should a laptop under ₹60,000 have?
Look for 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, a Full HD screen and a processor with at least 6 cores. That combination handles many browser tabs, Office files and video calls together without slowing down.
Cores are the processor's working units, so more cores let a laptop handle more tasks at once. Prefer RAM you can upgrade later, and an IPS screen if you can get one, because its colours look the same from any angle.
Memory chips became much more expensive in 2026, so laptop prices rose this year. That is why ₹60,000 now buys roughly what ₹50,000 bought a year ago. Our guides to the best laptop under ₹50,000 and the best laptop under ₹40,000 show what lower budgets get.

Acer's listing says the 16GB of RAM can go up to 32GB, and the 512GB SSD can be swapped for a 1TB drive later.
You also get a metal body, a full number pad, a USB-C port and a weight of 1.59kg. Acer claims up to 7 hours of battery life.
- Buy it if you want the most speed and memory for the money, with Word, Excel and PowerPoint included.
- Worth knowing: the screen is a TN panel, according to Acer's listing. Colours look fine straight on but fade when you view the screen from the side.
Want a better screen and a backlit keyboard instead of Office? The Acer Aspire 3 with the Ryzen 5 7430U costs the same ₹56,990 and has an IPS panel, but buyers rate it lower, at 3.7 from 46 ratings.

- Buy it if raw speed matters most and you are happy to add a second RAM stick later.

This Dell has the best screen among the laptops under ₹60,000: a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel with an anti-glare finish and a 120Hz refresh rate. 120Hz means the screen updates twice as often as a normal 60Hz panel, so scrolling and moving windows look smoother.
It also comes with MS Office Home and Student 2024 and Dell's 1-year onsite service, where a technician comes to you. The Core 3 100U has 6 cores, which is plenty for study and office work.

- Skip it if your course needs Windows software such as Tally or some engineering tools.

Ryzen 5 or Core i5: which processor is better under ₹60,000?
For most people, a 6-core Ryzen 5 5625U or 7430U is the better balance of speed and battery life. Choose the Core i5-13420H if you run heavy software, because its 8 cores and higher power make it faster under load. Avoid 4-core chips such as the Ryzen 5 7520U at this price.
The model number matters more than the label. AMD's specification page for the Ryzen 5 7520U lists just 4 cores and 8 threads, even though it carries the Ryzen 5 name.
Is 8GB of RAM enough in a ₹60,000 laptop?
It works for browsing, Office and video calls, but 16GB is the comfortable amount in 2026. Windows 11 and a browser with many tabs can fill 8GB on their own. If you buy an 8GB laptop, check that it has a free memory slot so you can add RAM later.
Is there a gaming laptop under ₹60,000?
Not a new one, in October 2026. The lowest-priced laptop with a separate graphics card that we found on Amazon.in was the Acer ALG with an RTX 3050 at about ₹79,245. The laptops here run older and lighter games at low settings only. Our best gaming laptops guide covers what proper gaming costs.
Best HP, Dell, Lenovo and ASUS laptops under ₹60,000
- Dell: the Dell 15 above, at about ₹51,990 with 8GB or ₹60,990 with 16GB.
- Lenovo: the V14 with the Core i5-13420H, at about ₹58,180.
- ASUS: the Vivobook 15 at about ₹63,990 is the one to buy. The Vivobook Go 15 at about ₹60,900 uses a 4-core Ryzen 5 40 chip, so we would skip it.
- HP: none we would recommend right now. The HP laptops we found under ₹60,000 have 4-core processors, and the HP 15 with a Ryzen 3 7320U has 8GB of RAM that cannot be upgraded.
Laptops to avoid under ₹60,000
- Lenovo V15 G4, Ryzen 5 7520U at ₹57,490. A 4-core chip on the older Zen 2 design, sold for the price of a 6-core laptop.
- Acer Aspire Lite, Ryzen 7 5700U at ₹59,990. Its Ryzen 7 5700U has 8 cores, but they use the older Zen 2 design, so everyday tasks feel no quicker than on the Ryzen 5 5625U, which costs ₹3,000 less. This listing is also rated just 3.1.
- Laptops with a "Ryzen 5 40" or "Ryzen 3 30" chip. These chips have the same 4-core specs as the older Ryzen 5 7520U and Ryzen 3 7320U.
- Any Windows laptop with 8GB of soldered RAM and no free slot. "Onboard" or "soldered" memory with no free slot means you can never add more.
What to check before you buy
- The exact processor model. Look for at least 6 cores, such as a Ryzen 5 5625U or 7430U, a Core 3 100U or an Intel H-series chip.
- RAM details. "Upgradable" or a free slot means you can add memory later.
- The screen type. IPS keeps colours steady from any angle. TN is cheaper and fades from the side.
- Office. Office 2024 included in the price saves you buying it separately.
- Warranty. Most picks have 1 year. The TravelLite has 30 months, and Dell includes onsite service.
When your laptop arrives, run our free keyboard tester and dead pixel test during the return window. They take two minutes and catch the most common faults.
Which laptop under ₹60,000 should you buy?
For most people, buy the Acer Aspire Lite with the Ryzen 5 5625U and Office 2024 at around ₹56,990. It has the most speed and memory for the money, and Office comes free.
If you carry your laptop every day, the Acer TravelLite at around ₹59,890 is lighter and has a 30-month warranty, and Acer says it is built for rough use. If your budget stops at ₹55,000, the Dell 15 at around ₹51,990 has the best screen of the Windows picks.
