The best inverter for most homes in India is the Luminous Zelio+ 1100 at around ₹7,166. It is a 900VA pure sine wave inverter that keeps fans, lights, a TV and the WiFi running through a power cut. Luminous covers it for 36 months.
Pair it with a 150Ah tall tubular battery for close to 3 hours of backup in a typical 2BHK. The battery decides how long the power lasts, so choose it as carefully as the inverter.
The picks include three inverters, two complete inverter and battery sets, one battery, and one lithium unit that needs no maintenance. A 900VA inverter is enough for a typical 2BHK, even with a fridge.

Best inverters for home: quick comparison
Sorted by price. VA is the size of the inverter, and the watts figure is the most it can power at once. Model numbers such as 1100 or 1500 are not the VA size.
Ah and Wh show how much a battery stores, and more means longer backup. The two combos include a battery, and the last two units have a lithium battery built in.

What size inverter do you need for your home?
Add up the watts of everything you want running during a power cut, then divide by 0.8 to get the VA size. A typical 2BHK running 3 fans, 8 lights, a TV and the WiFi uses about 444W. That works out to 555VA, so a 900VA inverter covers it with room for a fridge.
That 444W comes from these appliances:
- 3 ceiling fans at 75W each: 225W
- 6 LED bulbs at 9W each: 54W
- 2 LED tube lights at 20W each: 40W
- 1 LED TV of 43 inches: about 100W
- 1 WiFi router: about 10W
- 2 phone chargers: about 15W
Your own numbers are printed on each appliance's label or box. A single-door fridge adds about 100 to 200W while it runs.
Most room coolers draw 100 to 200W, so a cooler from our air cooler guide is fine on a 900VA inverter. A fridge and a cooler together on top of the 444W may overload it.
Do not plan to run heaters or an AC on a home inverter. A geyser, an iron, a room heater or an induction cooktop draws 1,000 to 2,000W or more, and a 1.5-ton AC needs a far bigger system. These appliances would trip the inverter or drain the battery in minutes.
How long will an inverter battery last in a power cut?
Multiply the battery's Ah rating by 12, then by 0.7, and divide by the watts you are running. For the 444W home above, a 150Ah battery lasts about 2 hours 50 minutes, and a 200Ah battery about 3 hours 45 minutes.
Run only the fans and lights (about 320W) and the 150Ah battery stretches to about 4 hours.
The 0.7 covers power lost inside the inverter and the charge you should leave in a lead-acid battery, which should never be drained completely. Treat the result as a rough guide, because an older battery stores less.
Okaya publishes backup times for the 110Ah battery in its combo, measured by a lab approved by NABL, India's national board for accrediting test labs. Okaya says the battery lasts at least 2 hours 45 minutes at 300W and 4 hours 55 minutes at 200W, close to what the formula predicts.
Pure sine wave or square wave: which inverter is better?
Buy a pure sine wave inverter. Its output is as smooth as mains power, so fans run quietly, LED TVs and computers are protected, and motors do not overheat. Square wave inverters cost less, but they can make fans hum and stress sensitive electronics. Every inverter we recommend is pure sine wave.
Wikipedia's article on power inverters explains the different output types, if you want the technical detail.

The Zelio+ 1100 is a 900VA, 12V pure sine wave inverter that handles up to 756W at once. That is enough for the 444W home above plus a fridge.
Its LCD screen shows the battery level and how much load you are running, so you can see at a glance when to switch something off. Luminous says it also shows the backup status and charging time in hours and minutes.
It works with one 12V battery, which you buy separately. Luminous covers the inverter for 36 months.
- Buy it if you want the most proven inverter for a 1BHK or 2BHK, with a screen that shows the battery level and the load.
- Worth knowing: pair it with a 150Ah tall tubular battery such as the RC 18000 below. The two cost about ₹20,365 together.
Best value inverter: V-Guard Prime 1150

V-Guard Prime 1150
1000VA and 800W for less money, with charging modes for any battery type.
~₹6,699Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹6,699, rated 4.2 by 1,976 buyers.
The Prime 1150 costs less than the Zelio+ and gives you more: 1000VA and up to 800W. V-Guard says it can run a 250-litre inverter fridge (one with an energy-saving inverter compressor), a 40-inch LED TV, fans and lights together.
It works with 12V batteries from 80Ah to 230Ah, and you can set its charging mode for flat-plate, tubular or local batteries. That helps the battery last longer. It also reminds you when the battery needs distilled water.
V-Guard gives a 3-year warranty on units bought on or after 1 April 2025.
- Buy it if you want a little more power than the Zelio+ for less money.
- Worth knowing: it is a tall, narrow unit, about 42cm high, so measure the space where it will stand.
Best inverter and battery combo: Luminous Eco Volt Neo 1050 + RC 18000

Luminous Eco Volt Neo 1050 + RC 18000
900VA pure sine wave inverter and a 150Ah tall tubular battery in one order.
~₹19,499Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹19,499, rated 4.3 by 494 buyers.
If you are setting up from scratch, this is the easiest order to place. You get a 900VA pure sine wave inverter and a 150Ah tall tubular battery with six water level indicators.
Luminous says the pair runs a 250-litre fridge, a 40-inch LED TV, 3 ceiling fans, 2 tube lights and a bulb together.
Both the inverter and the battery carry a 36-month warranty. For the battery, that means 18 months of free replacement, then 18 months pro-rata, where you pay part of the price of a new battery based on how long you have used the old one.
- Buy it if you have no inverter yet and want one complete set that matches.
- Worth knowing: prefer the Zelio+ with its LCD screen? The Zelio+ 1100 and RC 18000 combo costs about ₹22,199 with a battery trolley. Bought separately, the same two cost about ₹20,365 without the trolley.
Best budget combo: Okaya ATSW 1175 + 110Ah battery

Okaya ATSW 1175 + 110Ah battery
A complete set under ₹15,000 with a 48-month battery warranty.
~₹14,240Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹14,240, rated 4.4 by 232 buyers, the highest rating here.
The Okaya set pairs a 925VA, 740W pure sine wave inverter with a 110Ah tubular battery, and costs about ₹5,000 less than the Luminous Eco Volt combo.
The battery has the longest warranty of any lead-acid battery here: 48 months, made up of 24 months of free replacement and 24 months pro-rata. Okaya says it needs distilled water only once or twice a year.
Okaya also prints lab-tested backup times: at least 1 hour 45 minutes at 400W, 2 hours 45 minutes at 300W and 11 hours 30 minutes at 100W. The inverter itself has a 36-month warranty.
- Buy it if you want a complete set under ₹15,000 for a smaller home or shorter power cuts.
- Worth knowing: 110Ah stores less than 150Ah. If cuts in your area often last 3 hours or more, the Luminous combo above lasts longer.
Best inverter for bigger homes: Luminous Hercules 1500

Luminous Hercules 1500
1400VA and up to 1,176W for 3BHK homes and heavier loads.
~₹9,899Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹9,899, rated 4.0 by 173 buyers.
The Hercules 1500 is the most powerful inverter here: 1400VA and up to 1,176W. That suits a 3BHK running 5 fans, a fridge, a TV, a desktop computer and the lights together, which comes to roughly 900W.
It works with flat-plate, tubular and sealed batteries from 80Ah to 220Ah. Luminous says it still charges at full current when the mains voltage drops to 90V, which helps in areas with weak supply.
- Buy it if your home runs more than about 750W during a cut.
- Skip it if you only need fans and lights. A bigger inverter does not give you longer backup.
- Worth knowing: it still uses one 12V battery, so pair it with a 200Ah battery. The listing mentions both a 36-month and a 2-year warranty, so ask the seller which applies.
Best inverter battery: Luminous RC 18000 150Ah

Luminous RC 18000 150Ah
150Ah tall tubular battery built for long, frequent power cuts.
~₹13,199Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹13,199, rated 4.2 by 1,339 buyers.
If you already have an inverter, or your old battery has died, this is the one we would buy. It is a 150Ah tall tubular battery built for long, frequent power cuts, with six water level indicators on top so you can see when to add distilled water.
Luminous says it works with all inverter types. The warranty is 36 months: 18 months of free replacement and 18 months pro-rata.
Need longer backup? The Luminous RC 25000 200Ah costs about ₹16,999, is rated 4.3 by 1,610 buyers and has the same warranty.
- Buy it if you need a battery for any 12V home inverter, including all the inverters above.
- Worth knowing: keep it in an airy spot, never in a closed cupboard, because lead-acid batteries release gas while charging.
Best with no maintenance: Genus MaxiLion 1000VA lithium inverter

Genus MaxiLion 1000VA lithium
Inverter and 1280Wh lithium battery in one box, with a 5-year onsite warranty.
~₹31,999Amazon.in
Check price →Around ₹31,999, rated 4.1 by 1,277 buyers.
The MaxiLion puts a 1000VA, 800W pure sine wave inverter and a 1280Wh lithium battery in one 24kg box. You never add water, and there is no tall battery to find space for.
A built-in battery management system protects it from overcharging and deep discharge. Genus claims up to 12 years of battery life and gives a 5-year onsite warranty covering both the inverter and the battery.
By our estimate, 1280Wh runs the 444W home above for about 2.5 hours, because a lithium battery can safely use more of its stored charge. That is a little less than a 150Ah lead-acid battery.
The Microtek I-Lithium 1500 SW WiFi is the main alternative at about ₹28,149, rated 4.0 by 339 buyers. It has the same battery capacity, more power (1100VA and 925W), an app that shows the battery level over WiFi, and a wall-mounted design.
- Buy it if you live in a flat with little space, or you are tired of topping up a battery.
- Skip it if price matters most. It costs about ₹12,500 more than our combo pick.
Tall tubular, short tubular or flat plate: which battery is best?
Buy a tall tubular battery if your area has long or daily power cuts. It costs the most, but it lasts the most years and handles long, frequent cuts best. Flat-plate batteries cost less and charge faster, which suits cities where cuts are short and rare.
Short tubular batteries sit between the two and fit tighter spaces. Whatever the type, check two numbers on the listing: the Ah rating, which decides backup time, and how the warranty splits between free replacement and pro-rata.
Is a lithium inverter worth the money?
Yes, if space or maintenance is your problem, and no if price is. A lithium unit costs about ₹30,000, against roughly ₹20,000 for a good lead-acid set. In return, the battery is sealed, compact and maintenance-free, and both makers here claim a battery life of around 12 years.
A lead-acid battery usually needs replacing within about five years. Both lithium units we picked use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, a type known for long life and stability. Wikipedia's page on lithium iron phosphate batteries covers how they compare.
Which inverter brand is best in India?
Luminous, V-Guard, Microtek, Okaya and Genus are all solid choices. Luminous has by far the most reviews on Amazon.in, with more than 10,000 ratings on the Zelio+ 1100 alone. V-Guard often gives more power for the money, Okaya offers the longest lead-acid battery warranty here, and Genus and Microtek lead on lithium units.
Brand matters less than three things: a pure sine wave output, the right VA size for your load, and a service centre near you. Check the brand's service network for your city before you buy.
What to check before you buy
- Sine wave output. Look for "pure sine wave" in the title. Skip square wave models.
- The VA size. Add up your watts and divide by 0.8. Then choose the next size up.
- Battery size and type. 150Ah tall tubular suits most homes. Choose 200Ah for long cuts, and match the battery to a 12V inverter.
- The warranty split. A 36-month battery warranty may only give 18 months of free replacement.
- Where it will live. The battery needs an airy spot near a socket, away from children.
- Installation. Ask the seller whether installation is included, because wiring the inverter into your home's circuit is a job for an electrician.
During long power cuts, a charged power bank keeps phones going and saves the inverter battery for fans and lights.
Which inverter should you buy?
For most homes, buy the Luminous Zelio+ 1100 at around ₹7,166 with the Luminous RC 18000 150Ah battery at around ₹13,199. Together they run fans, lights, a TV and the WiFi for close to 3 hours.
If you want one order with everything, choose the Luminous Eco Volt Neo 1050 + RC 18000 combo at around ₹19,499, or the Okaya combo at around ₹14,240 for a tighter budget.
For a bigger home, step up to the Luminous Hercules 1500. If you never want to top up a battery again, the Genus MaxiLion is worth the extra money.
